Originally a hermit crab on Dr. Moureau's Island before it grew to a huge size. The Huge Hermit is one of results of the nuclear strike on Dr. Moureau's Island. The rebel later captures the gigantic crab and uses the tank as a shell, allowing the crab to fire the cannon. The players has to keep going to the right while shooting at the boss, the crab will attack by shooting two fireballs from the tank, While also trying to destroy the bridge. After taking enough damage, The crab will reveal a large cannon, which fires nukes that can destroy parts of the bridge.

The Metal Slug games are widely considered to have some of the most beautifully detailed pixel art anywhere, and this boss is quite possibly my favourite piece of pixel art ever. I appreciate how the textural detail makes it easy to differentiate between the crab and tank parts of the sprite, despite their similar colouration. Across the first two games, every level ends with a battle against some huge tank or other giant war machine. In the first stage of Metal Slug 3 you fight more mutant animals than enemy soldiers, and so you still get the big tank at the end, but not in the way you have come to expect. The rest of the game continues to buck this trend, and the only end-of-level boss that resembles any kind of war machine is the boxy, oversized wind-up robot at the end of stage 3. It rarely if ever gets to Aliens despite having only one knockback, and when it does, it's unlikely to do much damage before it gets destroyed. The chances of it seeing use are few and far between, and it's safe to say even other disposable attackers like Can Can Cat are able to outperform it easily. It absolutely does not have the required HP to efficiently tank massive swarms of aggressive Black threats that deal extreme damage to everything they touch when other specialists like Pizza already tear through them like paper, while its long recharge time prevents it from keeping up.
