It's not optimal in some cases to have to constantly look for a tiny icon and soemtimes a tiny number on that tiny icon to make quick decisions, distracting you from what's actually happening. Plus, if you get a toon all geared and everything in most cases you'll have a dozen plus procs and buffs up there at once.
