Hunter , formerly known as the Golden Guard , is a major character in The Owl House , initially depicted as an antagonist. He was the right-hand man of Emperor Belos and the former head of the Emperor's Coven. Hunter was presumed to be the nephew of Belos and as such, he was dedicated to his cause of ending all wild magic in the realm, but in reality, he is the latest version of the Golden Guard clones created by Belos to serve him faithfully in his mad quest. After becoming the head of the Emperor's Coven , the Golden Guard acts as the main enforcer for Emperor Belos and antagonist to the residents of the Owl House. However, a chance encounter with Luz Noceda and the meeting of a mysterious palisman named Flapjack , who chooses Hunter as his partner, gives Hunter a new perspective to life outside the Emperor's Coven. This soon culminates with Hunter learning the truth of his origins. Upon this discovery, and realizing he can never go back, Hunter abandons Belos and the Emperor's Coven altogether. Following his desertion, Hunter relocated to Hexside School of Magic and Demonics in order to hide from the emperor's reach. There, he found acquaintances in Hexside's students, and after coming to terms with his identity, Hunter made it his goal to help them stand against Belos' plan to wipe out the Demon Realm. Following the Day of Unity , Hunter and his friends were stranded in the Human Realm and spent the months working away to return to the Demon Realm. Unbeknownst to him and everyone else, a remnant of Belos returned to possess Hunter, who nearly killed Flapjack in the process.
While she at first rejects the idea that they could be similar, Amity later agrees that she used to operate under the mindset that she had to always prove herself to be worthy of love, but she eventually learned she could be with people who'd love her unconditionally and tries to convince Hunter he can be the same. The two then bond over their desire to protect the group, with Luz admitting that she will protect him too because they're family now. The Dog Bites Back : After spending his entire life being abused and conditioned the owl house hunter Belos as part of a twisted scheme to make Hunter a perfect version of Caleb, the owl house hunter, and forced to run or face death after learning the Awful TruthHunter is possessed by Belos and used to mortally wound his own Palisman.
This character is a Walking Spoiler. Therefore, all spoilers will be unmarked on this page. You Have Been Warned. I'm just following orders. All I know is that I'm a copy of someone Belos made
The Owl House centers itself around several outcasts bonding. Over time, Hunter shows not only his passion for magic but also fully comes to terms with how the Emperor has abused him. Hunter carries a lot of weight in just his existence. Belos spent every conversation with Hunter emotionally manipulating him - isolating him from witches his age, forcing him to practice physically grating training, and making him compete with everyone he meets for any affection. Not to mention he watches Belos murder palisman to survive daily and also the physical abuse. However, Hunter is not a witch nor a human - he is a grimwalker. Mind you, Belos killed Caleb for falling in love with a witch. He is a representation of generational trauma all centering around a vile leader.

If you can help us with this wiki please sign up and help us! Hunter , formerly known as the Golden Guard , is a major character in the Disney Channel animated series The Owl House , serving as a cameo character in Season 1, one of the two secondary antagonists alongside Kikimora of Season 2, and one of the two tritagonists alongside King Clawthorne of Season 3. He was originally the right-hand and nephew of Emperor Belos and the leader of the Emperor's Coven. However, during a misadventure in the Emperor's mind, he discovered that he is the latest in a line of Grimwalkers created to replace Belos' dead brother: Caleb Wittebane , that Belos murdered all prior Grimwalkers for "betraying" him, and that the purpose of the Day of Unity is to wipe out all the witches on the Boiling Isles. As a result, he defected from the Emperor's Coven, both because he could no longer morally justify working for Belos and because he knew Belos would murder him if he returned to the castle. Hunter is a young "witch" that has blonde hair, which has had the tip burnt by Kikimora, magenta eyes, and pointy ears. He also has a noticeable scar on his right cheek. While staying in the Human Realm, Hunter had his hair and forelock trimmed by Willow, giving him short bangs. When Belos possessed him, parts of Hunter's skin, left ear, and face became basil-green that spread to his arms, turning them into the ones of Belos' corrupted form while also gaining the blue eyes and antler-like horns of the latter. His hair also grew longer, which restored his forelock bang.

Sanity Slippage : In "Eclipse Lake", finding the lake empty of the Titan's Blood Belos needs, he starts digging his own grave and even offers to dig one for Amity. During the Time-Passes Montage of "Thanks To Them", Hunter sees flashes of both Caleb and Belos staring back at him when he looks in the mirror, as he now bears a greater resemblance to both of them after growing his hair out. Magic Staff : He wields a crystal-tipped staff similar to that of the Emperor, though lacking the obvious technological bits that make the latter's stand out as unusual. Additionally, Hunter also possessed a deep fascination and fondness for many customs and features of the Human Realm, including sewing, wolves and especially the Cosmic Frontier science-fiction series, of which he became a fan of. The duo first met each other in "Eclipse Lake", when Hunter is captured by Amity and is forced to follow her, Eda and King into the mine tunnels. Tragically, his possession by Belos's slime matter makes his hair grow wildly again , making him again resemble Caleb through Belos' control over him. Not So Above It All : He is quite serious and has extremely little experience with anything outside his job for the emperor, so he tends to view the other characters' goofing around as foolish. In "Eclipse Lake", he disguised himself in a standard Coven Scout uniform during his excursion to the Knee. He showed deep respect and love towards Belos, yet quite a bit of hubris and egotism towards anyone else, which earned him the dislike of many of his compatriots. Kikimora , who has been posing as Boscha's advisor, appears and attacks the group. Once an Episode : In nearly every episode he appears in, something horrible happens to him.
He is just going about certain things wrong.
But Not Too Bi : Downplayed. Character Development : He starts out fully willing to kill a selkidomus no questions asked just because he was ordered to by the emperor. Is It Something You Eat? Comically Serious : Downplayed. Darius was initially shown to dislike Hunter, talking down to him harshly, finding him annoying, and refusing to even look at him when Hunter asked for help. Magic Staff : He wields a crystal-tipped staff similar to that of the Emperor, though lacking the obvious technological bits that make the latter's stand out as unusual. He succeeds in getting there, but finds that the lake has dried out. However, it's ambiguous as to whether he was intentionally trying to manipulate Amity. All I know is that I'm a copy of someone Belos made When Hunter was recovered, Camila asked him if he was okay and affectionately referred to him as "baby". When he believes Belos is back, he promised Flapjack he would never allow the little bird to get hurt. Hunter grew up in the Boiling Isles believing he was a powerless witch whose family was destroyed by wild magic, only for it be revealed he is actually a Grimwalker Belos created from who was almost certainly his human brother. Though neither are aware of it, Hunter and Dell are also distantly related through their respective relations to Caleb Wittebane. Hunter however, is a powerless witch and only received a staff to supply him with magic after being promoted to Golden Guard, stating he was the youngest scout to become one. Slowly forming bonds with Flapjack, Luz, Willow, Gus, Amity, and others has him gradually lose each of these toxic traits.
