Last year we had our staircase renovated - replacing a white painted staircase with a oak and glass staircase like this www. My worry is that over time the stripes will merge together we have been warned by one retailer this will happen with a Twist stripe carpet - however 4 others have said it won't Does anyone have a stripe carpet on their stairs? Any advice good or bad would be really appreciated. I really want to get a carpet fitted ASAP - sick of looking at unsightly bare wood!!! But don't want to make an expensive mistake!!!!

How much would this bother you, if at all? Stairs carpet has been laid today. My lack of understanding at the time we replaced the order and the measurements were done means that I misunderstood how the stripe would look on the two quarter turns in our stairs. I though the stripe would go up on the stairs, then turn 45 degrees anti-clockwise on the flat part and then turn another 45 degrees anti-clockwise as it went up the stairs again. Is it something I should just live with? It would be very difficult to do the two deg turns you mention, you'd end up with twice the joins, visible joins, etc. Stair carpet is manufactured as straight runs. I've just googled lots Ipoh images of striped carpets and yours looks fine. I think it looks better than the ones where the carpet turns TBH! So do you mean you wanted the stripes diagonal on the flat square? That would have looked awful I think, this way looks great.
