Bowie is the character you play as and leader of the Shining Force. Since he's the leader, you lose if he gets defeated! So be careful with him. But yet, it's still important to actively use him, or else he doesn't grow strong. It's a delicate balance between gaining his levels but keeping him safely away from enemies.
