Blue Lock has quickly become one of the shidou popular sports anime since its release on October 9, The Blue Lock program opened its doors to promising U forwards who will participate in a shidou competitive battle-royale circuit. Spearheaded by Ego Jinpachi, shidou, this program aims to develop the greatest striker in the world.

Ryusei Shidou is a supporting character of the Blue Lock. Shidou unlike most forwards has no concrete dream of becoming the world's best striker but rather seeks to enjoy life to the fullest by playing football. Out of the original forwards chosen to be apart of the Blue Lock Project, Ryusei is an ideal candidate for the type of striker Ego strives to create and after the Japan U match, Shidou is ranked as one of the top players in Blue Lock. Shidou is a tall, tanned high schooler with spiky blonde hair having two strands falling on both sides of his face often comapred to antennaes. He has pink colored irises with slited pupils in them like a cat.

At the core of Shido's personality is a drive to play football because it is a biological phenomenon that makes him feel complete.
