Light, powerful and bristling with knowledge gained from years of racing, the YZF-R6 is the most advanced production middleweight motorcycle Yamaha - or anybody else - has ever built. The YZF-R6 was the first production motorcycle with a fly-by-wire throttle system—for flawless response under all conditions. Formula 1-style air management presents very small frontal area for excellent aerodynamics; ram-air induction ducts cool, high-pressure air through the steering head for optimal combustion, more horsepower and enhanced engine cooling. Compact, lightweight 67 x YCC-T Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle uses a powerful ECU and multiple sensors to provide perfect, smooth engine response and optimal power whenever the throttle is twisted, under all conditions. Twin-injector fuel injection: shower-type injectors above each intake funnel help achieve optimum fuel atomization at high rpm. Back torque-limiting slipper clutch greatly facilitates braking and downshifting from high speed. Close-ratio six-speed transmission delivers seamless power and maximum acceleration.

By I am an Owner on Nov 23, After looking at all of my options,I found the r6 to be the best all around Driver and Passenger. I will have this bike till it poops out. Adjustments include: spring preload, way high speed compression damping, way low speed compression damping and way rebound damping. This bike is built for the track. Not only does it look good, the ride is incrediable. The maximum lean angle is a knee scraping 57 degrees. Shift Light Type. This special ECU is capable of responding to changes at a speed of th of a second. Both valve lift, duration and timing have been optimized for class leading power output.

The Yamaha R6 is still phenomenally capable, relevant, and good looking, especially in the red and white colour scheme. Find a good used one and you'll have a sports classic that's still more than quick enough for most but for the price of a new budget bike.

If the immobilizer ignition does not recognize the key or a theft's screwdriver or other type of "jimmy tool" the bike will not start even if the ignition is turned or forced into the on position.
