With Lift part of the inspiration was-- Boy, what was the inspiration for Lift? When I was building The Stormlight Archive I said, "I want the Knights Radiant to run the gamut of different character styles, ages, and types of story. What you don't imagine is a thirteen-year-old Hispanic girl, right? And I said "I want to have the people that are in the Knights Radiant to not be the standard what you think of. And so I said "Well, what is somebody who does not fit that mold? Lift was partially developed out of me wanting to build a character who was awesome but was so different from what everyone would think of. And that's where she came from. It also came partially from my wife reading a lot of fantasy and complaining that she's like, "you know the Asians show up in fantasy a lot, Asian culture inspires a lot. European culture of course does. You see a lot of these things but where are the Hispanics? Yeah there's one. For a normal author, simply completing the last three novels of an already established and beloved series, like the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, would have been an incredible achievement on its own. However, Brandon Sanderson is no ordinary writer of fantasy novels. Comprised of a staggering list of 22 books and novellas so far that are all connected in some way, the Cosmere is undoubtedly an incredible piece of fiction that Sanderson should be praised for accomplishing. His most recent book in the Cosmere, Rhythm of War , released a few months ago to high praise from both critics and readers alike. As there are so many books that comprise the Cosmere universe as a whole, inevitably, some will be better than others.

She was written into the outline from the very beginning as one of the people who gets a book of her own. Letryx13 Posted November 14, But after looking into Lift a quite a bit my feeling is that she's too unique to "simply" ascend. Lift has never been good with time, though she can keep the important parts straight. Szeth studies her, then returns the sword to its sheath, and silently follows the underlings, leaving the faint afterimage behind him, and Lift much relieved. Over time, their relationship vastly improves. Lift first encounters Szeth in Yeddaw as one of Nale's apprentices; she's also the only person known to see the "afterimage" he leaves behind as the after-effect of his resurrection. As Darkness enters below her, Lift drops behind him. Pure Awesomeness! Outside Lift found that instead of the old man being the one harmed, it was in fact the two Skybreakers who lay dead on the ground. In conversation with him, she questions herself, wondering whether instinct guides people, or they're just frightened and nobody has the answers.
