I actually managed to get a really good shave even when I used it on a three-day beard, so in my opinion the Series 8 works a lot better in these situations than any other similarly priced Panasonic for example ie the Arc 4 and Arc 5. All Series 7 models use the same replacement head, precisely the 70s silver or 70b black cassettes. The shaving head is comprised of 4 individual cutting elements : two finishing foils called Optifoils and two cutters specially designed to tackle longer, flat-lying hairs that grow in different directions.
