Ever since the release of FNaF 4, the identity of the Nightmares has been hotly contested. Some of the most popular ideas include them being a dream, real robots altered by sound disks, or even real giant murder tooth monsters. Similar to the pre-rebuilt incarnations of the originals, their behavioural function is that of a sadistic, feral beast, and they can use their gnarly claws and teeth to kill their pursued victims. Nightmare is a nightmare animatronic who first debuts in Five Nights at Freddy's 4 as the game's final antagonist. He is a recolored and slightly translucent version of Nightmare Fredbear. Nightmare's appearance is almost identical to Nightmare Fredbear's appearance; the only drastic differences are that the costume color is changed to black, and the bow-tie and top hat are changed from purple to yellow.
