Both games are on sale on steam, and i've had interest in trying out the series for awhile now.

I've always wanted to get into the series, but I'm torn between choosing World or Rise. I heard World is more open world and focuses on the hunting aspect, which I feel like is really immersive, but on the other hand Rise has better combat almost like an Arcade game which could be way more fun and fast-paced. I heard from a lot of MH YouTubers that they think Rise is a great game, but not as good as World one of the reasons is because of Wirebugs being broken. However, Rise is newer so I'm thinking it has a larger playerbase, so that's why I'm stuck on this decision. I just want to know which would be a better investment in the long term because I do plan on sinking a lot of hours into one of these games because it seems like these games' have a really good world to get lost in for a few hours. AtomicArtumas 1 year ago 9 I'll honestly say that Rise is overall easier to get into, and is the way more interesting game roster-wise.
Whenever a new installment of a series like Monster Hunter comes out, an age-old fan question usually rears its head: Which one is better? One way to determine this could be to look at the Metacritic ratings of the games in question. That's far from a decisive victory, however, and only a small part of a much bigger picture. There are certain things that mere numbers simply can't convey, not to mention the fact that patches and updates likely mean that both games are now pretty different from the ones that were originally reviewed by critics. The truth of the matter is that each one excels in certain areas, though that's not to say that one of them doesn't excel just a little more than the other. While Monster Hunter World received bonus content through the Iceborne DLC expansion, Monster Hunter Rise has recently been the recipient of numerous upgrades thanks to the Sunbreak expansion, which was released in the summer of
Monster Hunter boasts a rich history of monsters and all things to do with high fantasy epicness. As games progress and launch every year, there are bound to be changes — like new enemies, re-designs, and fun little tidbits that improve the overall gameplay experience. Both Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter World are relatively new releases, with features that separate the two from becoming the same game. They share some similarities for fans to experience and love once more, but there's enough change and fresh ideas for new players to enjoy. Monster Hunter used silent protagonists in the past, namely in World but in Rise, your Hunter now talks during cutscenes. Before, they would only speak while emoting and not when sharing a conversation with someone. This made things a little awkward as the protagonist would have a still unchanging expression as someone spoke. But as of Rise, this has all been reworked to make things run smoother. Along with the Sunbreak Expansion released on June 30, , there came all new follower quests. While Monster Hunter has previously included the fan-favorite feline Palicoes , Palamutes are the new dog-like companions in Monster Hunter Rise.

There are few adventures gamers find more exhilarating than testing their mettle against giant monsters, as evidenced by the meteoric rise of action role-playing games like Elden Ring in recent years. The RPG category has always been highly competitive, with multiple top-class titles being released yearly by the best developers, and it seems to get tougher with each passing year. The Monster Hunter franchise comes from the brains at Capcom, gaining renown for its challenging gameplay and its unique system of equipment crafting.

These unique alternate moves are available for every weapon type, meaning that even two players using the same type of weapon have access to different strategies and maneuvers. Not only that, but players also have eyes in the sky too, thanks to the introduction of Cohoots. Simply that after Rise, it was difficult for me to hop back into World as it just feels sluggish and, quite frankly, outdated by comparison. If you are still itching for monster slaying with better combat and build variety, go for Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen. Monsters have massive health pools and you will be doing minuscule damage. World is good, but I went back to world after Rise and it felt so sluggish and outdated. It's a perfect starting point because of that in my opinion. Showing 1 - 15 of 55 comments. Kurona 1 year ago 6. Monster Hunter World features Alpha and Beta armor sets, which have slightly different skill distributions among the five armor pieces. Curious as I don't really know the series that well and both are on sale rn. Kurona posted
Monster Hunter fans have had to wait more than three years for a new entry in this power-selling franchise. When it was originally unveiled last summer, there was plenty of scepticism surrounding Monster Hunter Rise. From The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild and Skyrim to DOOM: Eternal , the Nintendo Switch has continued to surprise us with the scale and fidelity of its software library, even if it has to occasionally rely on tricks such as cloud streaming shortcuts for games like Hitman 3.
World is a more traditional MH experience where as Rise is more of a casual arcade like experience. Always World. Imo Rise has a slightly easier entry than World has due to the Village quests but both games have their charms imo. All rights reserved. It's got a more interesting monster-roster than world does excluding iceborne and has flashier movesets. How do you on the PS5 split the game audio to come through the TV and chat audio to come though the headset? This can be done outside of combat to reach new heights, during combat to dodge attacks or land an aerial attack, or even after sustaining damage to move to safety. Both are good options, I would vote for World with Iceborne mainly because it already has all the content ready, and for Rise with sunbreak there are still at least 3 or 4 months left to have all the updates. Nerevar View Profile View Posts. Even with Sunbreak looming large on the horizon, it's difficult to imagine that the upcoming expansion will come close to providing parity between Rise and World when it comes to the volume of content that each game has to offer. I'll honestly say that Rise is overall easier to get into, and is the way more interesting game roster-wise. The bait was a solid attempt, however, made my type a few paragraphs. Huge fan of World. On mine the theme is rather interesting. I suggest all to take part in discussion more actively.
