Dmitry Glukhovsky is the author of the internationally best-selling series of Metro novels and creator of the expanded Metro metro 2033 book which includes the video games by 4A Games. Metro Exodus continues the storyline as told in the games Metro and Metro: Last Light, and interweaves with the wider Metro saga contained in Dmitry's novels, MetroMetro and Metro

It is set within the Moscow Metro , where the last survivors hide after a global nuclear holocaust. It has been followed by two sequels, Metro and Metro , and spawned the Metro media franchise. The book's English edition was published as a tie-in with its video game adaptation in In , a nuclear war forced a large amount of Moscow's surviving population to relocate to the city's Metro system in search of refuge. Eventually, communities settled within the underground train stations and developed into independent states over time.

Author 33 books followers. I might have enjoyed it more. They are humanoid, but all black. This is a cult-classic dystopia that managed to catapult high despite originally being given away for free a little more than a decade ago. I love a good dystopia, and Metro delivers a particularly interesting example of the type. But then I was put through torture, pure agonising torture! Everything in this underworld has a dreamy nightmarish quality about it. But, some are really poor and are more like stations for beggars and dodgy trade. For the rest of the book, Artyom simply wanders around the metro system tunnels and stations, trying to get to his goal. Strange mutations have resulted from the nuclear devastation, and frightening creatures are taking over the world above; some of them threaten life in the tunnel systems. While most of the stations were controlled by the 3 main factions, some stations formed an independent alliances, including the station VDNKh "Exhibition". In he worked as a radio host of a Mayak Radio Station.

The Metro books are a perfect way to flesh out the Metro games universe and actually see what the whole series was based on in its original, unadulterated, literary form. It's a straightforward series title-wise, unlike some which can be misleading—I'm looking at you Witcher books —so its easy to know the order, but, if you're looking for extra clarity on exactly how to get started, and what to expect then you're in the right place.
