Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a beloved title. This is due to its incredible presentation, over-the-top story, and of course the fast-paced gameplay. Rising offers a true adrenaline rush with its aggressive and frantic combat, a perfect mix of precision and cutting loose, and this is showcased best in its memorable boss fights. Each of them stands out for different reasons, whether it be a tough test of skill, a fascinating mechanic, a fantastic role in the story, or just sheer presentation with roaring music. The Grad is a mechanized war-machine found deep in the Desperado labs, being the final challenge Raiden faces off against. This thing is utterly forgettable.

This ludicrously high-octane hack-and-slash title takes place four years after the events of MGS 4 and puts Raiden in center frame, who is now fully cybernetic and armed with a sword that can cut through anything. In traditional Platinum style, the best parts of MGR are the boss fights, which are all as ridiculous as they are fun. Whether you're fighting another superpowered cyborg or a giant mech, they all manage to be very memorable, which is particularly impressive when you consider the popularity of other bosses within the Metal Gear series. Blade Wolf is a lupine-based robot equipped with a chainsaw tail, who eventually becomes Raiden's ally after this fight. Blade Wolf isn't as challenging as some of the other fights in the game, but he's still very entertaining to fight. However, what brings it down a notch is that he'll routinely stop the fight to make you deal with regular enemies, which is useful if you need some health but it also kills the pacing a bit. He ends up fighting Wolf after the latter tries to gain freedom during the coup in Abkhazia, and does so in a giant mech wielding a huge axe. Controlling Wolf feels slightly different to Raiden but his ability for more air combos allows you to avoid Khamsin's sweeps. Khamsin also dies in a particularly brutal manner even for MGR as you chainsaw him right through the heart, then pull him out of the mech to eviscerate what's left. Metal Gear Excelsus is one of the larger Metal Gears in the franchise still outshone by Arsenal Gear and Sahelanthropus , and yet it's more of a warm-up to the final boss of the game. Given Excelsus' size, this boss fight is a tad slower compared to the others from MGR but its attacks do a lot of damage. It also ends the way every giant mech fight should; with you ripping off one of the arms and using it to defeat the boss.

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance has the following "chapters" or missions available in Easy with parry-assist , Normal, Hard, Very Hard, and Revengeance difficulty settings. Note that Revengeance difficulty supplants Easy difficulty once unlocked. The layout of Rising Revengeance will closely mirror that of KOEI's Dynasty Warriors series -- that is, after you complete a mission, you can go back into it on another difficulty with all the trappings, items, and abilities you've earned to "farm" it or to "grind" for BP Battle Points. When you hit a brick wall with a boss or particularly tough battle or encounter, chances are you may want to "grind" just a little to earn BP to power-up Raiden in the Shop Customization Menu. Note that this is optional.
