Great for kneading even the toughest dough, mixing dense ingredients or bigger batches.

This would not be my first Kitchen Aid mixer. About 15 years ago I took some classes on cake decorating and for a few years ran a cake business from my home. At that time I was looking for a stand mixer that could handle large batches of butter cream frosting. Finally, I looked at the KitchenAid mixer; this was back when Hobart made them. It was exactly what I was looking for.

So, I took a chance and bought the mixer anyway. We have had our KA for a few years now, its the all metal gear version and its a definite let down compared to older KA models. Can KA Pro hold 20 cups of flour?

We've long maintained the best KitchenAid stand mixer is a bowl-lift model without a "foot," as Stella asserts here. With most KitchenAids, the bottom of the bowl has ridges or a foot, if you will that lock into the base. Off the mixer, this makes it tougher to keep the bowl steady, unusable in water baths like for melting chocolate , and more. But, as Stella also noted, this is a personal preference.

ALso Blendtec has a watt version in the same price range. Here is my problem- I called customer service to see what, if anything could be done. They were right on the money on those, they were good for the most part, but each had their own problems. When I tried to make four loaves, the motor shut down. Now have to limit it to 4 cups or less. I have been trying to make 3 loaves of bread at one time and would do more if it could handle it , using no more than 9 cups of white flour. These are tough mixers, what Kitchen Aid was when Hobart built them. I have tried the ice cream attachment and it works well. I doubt I will make anything larger. I hoped that this would make adding ingredients to the bowl while mounted on the mixer easier and less messy. It is one year parts and labor and if something should happen to the mixer during that year you simply call the support number and they will send you out a new machine and even pay the shipping to return the defective one. Finally, your personal shopper will explain our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and help you place an order if you so desire. The new bowl shape is great. With this I turn out 4 one pound loaves of bread. Especially if the dough contains rye and other non-wheat flours.

This has happened to 2 or 3 of my machines. The mixer once again came through like a champion. I called the repair shop that KA recommended and they said that it will cost more than I paid for the mixer. Having used a smaller Kitchen Aid mixer for 13 years, I did not worry about changing my dough recipes. I hope I will find a good one, which I believe I will as I see them come up time to time. We spent extra and bought the heaviest duty one we could afford because we planned to use it a lot. With this I turn out 4 one pound loaves of bread. I mean how can a machine that makes this much noise be good quality? It was a mexican one and while grinding pork, it stripped gears. But, I knew if I wanted a mixer that could handle what I would be using it for that I had to spend the money. The first thing I did was look at what they had to say and how they rated the mixers that I have owned. The problem was the dough would get on the hook and then just ride it around the bowl. But, what was even more impressive was the new dough hook. I is invaluable when I make a purchase decision. It was VERY noisy and lasted only 2 months, tops.
