The engine sounds even more like an old tractor than it did before and the only warning I got about this was a warning saying Engine oil level critical for a second of so. I stopped the car checked the oil when it was cooled down and it was at the corect level on the dipstick. Car stated ok and no warning showing we made our way home but the car started to loose power 2 mile from home and we just made it back Engine sounded fine so I left it until the morning It started and sounded ok so it was recovered into a jaguar specialist not a million miles from me and he checked the car out. The Oil filter was full of iron particles which wasn't right and the car had developed a serious knock Cut a long story short the engine is a total loss and the car is in the process of having a new Jaguar engine fitted at a cost to myself. This is not the first ingenium engine I've known do this as my friends XE did the exact same and where my car is he says this is a problem he sees a lot of. My car was a Jaguar dealerships car and has got full service history and I always had it serviced with genuine parts but at an independant garage owned by a friend. Has anyone else had issues with the ingenium engine as Jaguar don't seem to think there's an issue with this engine,but timing chains snapping on 30, mile engines and tensioner and oil pumps packing in is a serious issue. Lets just say I won't be buying Jaguar or Land Rover again anytime soon and will be keeping this one for another year and getting shut while the engines still under jaguar warranty.
