The Suzuki GSXF is no track machine, where its weight and relatively soft and cheap suspension will limit fun after that first fun track day. That should be a four for reliability and a two for build quality. No bells, whistles or LCD trickery. Review: Motorcycle News. Home Manufacturer Contact. The Suzuki GSXF is a great all-round sporting motorcycle, featuring exciting style, with a sporty full fairing and all-day comfort. Delivering smooth power, and fuel efficiency. This motorbike has won the first place at the Machine Of The Year. This exciting sportsbike offers crisp handling, so you can turn any winding road into a ride to remember. Its liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine is tuned for strong low-end and midrange power, for smooth and easy riding around town. In , Suzuki launched the GSXF Katana, a sports motorcycle that proved its longevity through strong demand in the market. The similarities with the Gixxer series were overshadowed by the resemblance of the bike with the Hayabusa model. The bike featured fluid rounded shapes, with a lower part of the fairing finished in a different color for an eye-pleasing two-tone livery, and the oval white-lens front turn signals were more eloquent than anything. On the rear, it packed a link-type suspension with a fully adjustable spring pre-load and damping force and a four-way adjustable rebound. The braking power was achieved by a couple of two-piston calipers with two mm discs mounted on the front wheel and a two-piston caliper that squeezed a single mm disc mounted on the rear wheel. Even though it was no longer sold in all the markets where it used to, the GSXF Katana has lived enough to see its model year. The bike retained the features which made it popular, with the resemblance to the sporty cc Gixxer, which was likely the most important factor. The design cues remained the same, with minor updates that made the bike stand in line with its modern counterparts, such as the iconic dual-oval headlights and the matching side vents were still the unmistakable trademark of the GSXF Katana. The attractive stainless steel four-in-one exhaust system tuned for enhanced low and mid-range performance featured a catalyzer just for the Californian model for lower emissions.

Max Torque. Passed MOT with no advisories.

At that time, its specification was perfectly acceptable for a performance machine - all-enclosing bodywork, a valve engine and monoshock rear suspension put it on a par with its peer group. Only the slightly bland styling marked the GSX out from its competitors. By , the GSXF had been relegated to a more pedestrian budget sports tourer role. However, Suzuki gave it a wheels-up makeover anyway. The former 'jellymould' styling was radically altered, but was still not to every rider's taste. The engine and carburation received internal modifications to produce improved low and mid-range power production, at the cost of some top-end power.

As a cheap alternative to sporty s it sold well but when the budget class came of age with bikes like the Fazer and SV the Suzuki GSXF bowed out gracefully. Despite all the negative press from the so called experts all the owner reviews are very positive. The bike reached a top speed of kph mph due to its engine power combined with a six-speed manual transmission and a dry weight of kg lbs. Although there are faster prettier and more trendier bikes out there I can say that I loved every minute of ownership and riding. Currently have BT's on it which are OK. Gyro 5 out of 5 stars. Engine 3 out of 5. About the only real problems are the brakes work fine and are good enough for me, but need a firm tug to get it to slow down quickly and the finish I haven't ridden it in winter much but it's still got spots of rust. The smaller Katana packed less horsepower than its brother but was more than enough for fast highway hauls, aggressive city slicing or carving the twisties, solo or two-up. Fortunate that the previous owner forked out on new discs! Fast enough to wake you up when the mood takes you.

Comfy enough for long runs. In , Suzuki released a new model of the GSXF Katana, a real sport Suzuki motorcycle in a street, all-rounder trim, that introduced a redesigned tail section, with a new taillight and cowl for better looks. Has a fuel gauge and reserve, nice touches. In , the Japanese manufacturer released the GSXF Katana, a sports motorcycle identical to its cc sister, differentiated by the stickers found on the tail section. The model featured a six-speed manual transmission that spun the rear wheel to a top speed of kph mph. Weaknesses: Outdated looks, restrictive fuel tank capacity for touring. This is my first bike and as such it's perfect. Suzuki claims this saves weight over a liquid-cooled engine, while remaining more efficient than an air-cooled design. I'd reccomend it to someone for a first bike though if you're a vertically challenged female like myself you may want to have it lowered slightly. I expect I'll have outgrown it in a year of so, but until then it suits me fine. Annual service done by a great local mechanic along with MOT each year Great value over all insurance cheep and little other expenditure required. Final reduction Ratio. The cc engine was still good for a moderate power delivery, which made the bike a fun machine even for seasoned riders. Consumption Average. For suspension, the model packed a 41 mm conventional telescopic fork on the front and a swingarm with progressive linkage on the rear while the braking power was handled by a couple of two-piston calipers with two mm discs on the front and a single mm disc squeezed by a two-piston caliper on the rear.
