Game console display shelf

We have created this rack specially for the sake of users with multiple non-portable gaming consoles. When you place your gaming consoles vertically, depending on where you put them, there might be a risk of them falling over.

For all of us gamers we understand that organization and display can be a bit of a handful at times. My goal was to create a console gaming shelf that displays my favourite and most used consoles, with LED lights! I didn't include my valence cuts as I found them around the house. The pine lattice I used for trimming off the front of my unit with mitred cuts will require a mitre saw to cut 45 degree angles for the corners. I can't remember the purchase measurements of the backerboard but if you cut it in 3 equal lengths, you will get that inch gap you see in the pictures to run wires and provide more than adequate ventilation for your consoles. The backerboard, amazingly, was the exact length of my final measurements for this console shelf.

Hello everyone, I am Bren! I recently started using some building plans from myoutdoorplans. I decided to use this as a loose plan to go by and here are the steps I followed to complete my project. I had to decide on the dimensions and material to use for the unit. With respect to building material I would have to use pine mainly due to its affordability. I did find a good compromise. The building material stores sell pine panels which are smaller pieces of pine joined together which are straighter than the wider pine boards. You need to pick through them because they can split at the ends but if the store has a large supply you can easily find enough for your project. For the dimensions I did a few spreadsheet scenarios and finally settled on something that suited my needs. There were a number of things to consider when designing the unit, including the width of the wood being used, trying to use factory length boards to reduce the number of cuts and ensuring all systems could be accommodated. The final layout was slightly different than my plan but not far off. Of course you need to check the lengths just to be sure and sand the edges, but all these panels seem to be very consistent in their length. I checked and sanded five of these for the horizontal shelves. See all my Premium Plans in the Shop.

With a large project this would mean a lot of application and wiping. When my wires came out of the back, I taped them to the back of the backerboard to keep the wires tight in the shelves.

Unfortunately I did not write down the measurements for the biscuit joints. You will require a biscuit jointer machine at this point, one that can make face cuts directly on flat wood see picture of rough cuts that I made above.

It is possible but finishing the project is not something you want to rush. Do your best to use twist ties of velcro strap to tidy up the wires as best you can. In retrospect it might have looked neater to have the side flush with the top shelf and the corner rounded but at the time I thought the lip would be better if items were on the top shelf. Its important to keep downward pressure on the shelf as you screw it in so it stays in place. Depending on the individual and the way the product is assembled, measurements might differ slightly. For the other shelves I used wood glue but screwed the shelf from the top down only. With this Game Console Rack, you can store them horizontally. For all of us gamers we understand that organization and display can be a bit of a handful at times. I used screws on the outside corners and outside shelves, I wish I hadn't as I didn't countersink them and the screw heads stuck out. Now, you can peel off the masking tape as a second coat probably isn't require in the tiny crevices. I would also like to see any of your finished projects if you take pictures of the steps I didn't take, please provide and I will add to the instructable Happy Gaming everyone, Michael. Make sure the edges where you cut the wood and is visible, are sanded like the dickens to a smooth finish. You will see i've already masked off the valences and insides of the shelves - I will include this picture in the next step. Drilling and cutting backerboard masonite is difficult as the finish will almost certainly chip away. If you have any questions please ask and I will respond as quickly as possible. Once the bottom shelf was in place the other shelves were relatively easy to place. Interchangeable Feet Casters This is perfect for the living room gamer. Once I had the holes cut I tacked the backing into place to ensure it all fit properly. If you don't allow sufficient dry time, the painters tape will peel of your paint. As i've said, running the wires will be a job in itself but well worth it.
