The City Council serves as a link between the citizens of Framingham and their municipal government. Councilors help constituents by connecting them to resources, services, and City departments. They serve as advocates for all Framingham residents. Through their work, city councilors ensure that Framingham continues to be a great place to live, work, and play. The City Council is the sole legislative body of the City and is therefore responsible for passing all City ordinances. The City Council is made up of 11 members who shall exercise the legislative powers of Framingham. Two of these members are known as councilors-at-large and nine members are known as district councilors.

Leslie White Harvey, currently vice chair of the Framingham Board of Library Trustees , narrowly defeated incumbent District 8 City Councilor John Stefanini, , in one of only a handful of competitive races on the ballot this year. Since moving to Framingham 14 years ago, White Harvey has taken on numerous roles. Besides her current role with the library trustees, she has sat on the board of directors for Downtown Framingham Inc. White Harvey told the Daily News Tuesday night that she's looking forward to working with the community. I'm really thankful for my team and my family I'm very thankful and emotional right now. Stefanini has served five two-year terms as a state representative in addition to his years on the Select Board and now the Framingham City Council. Riece is a member of the Local carpenters union. Brandon Ward , a nonprofit executive and School Committee member at Keefe Tech, defeated fellow newcomer Sean Silk, a small business owner, , for the District 2 City Council seat. The seat became open after two-term incumbent Cesar Stewart-Morales announced earlier this year that he would not seek reelection.
