Should Highway 1 or Highway 5 close in the future, Highway 8 will not be used as a detour as it is an active construction zone. Environment Canada says as much as 50 centimetres of snow could fall Monday night, with more on Tuesday, along Highway 5 between Hope and Merritt. The frontal system is expected to hit on Monday, followed by another slow-moving low-pressure system that will linger until early Wednesday. Along with the snow, winds will be especially strong near the summit, with wind gusts up to 30 kilometres an hour, creating white-out conditions and near zero visibility at times. Drive B. Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton, including the Allison Pass, will also have significant snowfall and poor driving conditions.

Avalanche Canada has issued an avalanche warning for wide swaths of the British Columbia Interior into parts of Alberta, with a ranking of "dangerous" or "very dangerous" conditions applied to mountains across the province.
