And what better way to celebrate this longest day of the year than on a cruise onboard one of my favorite ships, aptly named, the Celebrity Solstice! Instead, I suppose you could spend today doing the second most enjoyable thing in life: booking and planning a cruise, celebrity solstice ship reviews.

Celebrity Solstice broke new ground when it debuted in , and while several sister ships have undergone what the line calls "Revolutionized" status, this vessel has not. That means that it lacks some areas and amenities that are now standard on the line. That being said, Celebrity Solstice still has plenty of oomph. Nature is a theme on Solstice, with its large tree anchoring one of its atriums, a live plant wall in its Solarium pool and of course, the real grass that makes up the Lawn Club on the top deck. Holding 2, guests at double occupancy, Celebrity Solstice flourishes wherever it is deployed, be that Australia, Asia or Alaska. The Sky Lounge, with its bank of windows, is perfect for wildlife viewing in Alaska and scenic cruising anywhere else. The Lawn, with its private Alcoves for rent, is a draw when the ship is in warm climates and two pools, indoor and outdoor, mean that you can swim, no matter what the weather.

Bottom Line First Solstice-class ship is no longer trend-setting but still provides plenty to appeal to contemporary cruisers of all ages. Excellent cruise and ports of call, beautiful scenery. Thoroughly enjoyed pre cruise stay in lovely Vancouver. Did not enjoy post cruise stay in Seattle, rooms in Grand Hyatt hotel very good but downtown Seattle has serious issues, we did not venture out at night, and would not stop there again. Our cruise to Alaska was very special and Celebrity did everything they could to make sure guests were well cared for. While other cruiselines are taking things away from the cruise experience, Celebrity seems to be finding ways to constantly improve and add to the guest experience. The food and service in the main diningroom as well as in the buffet was excellent. Also, the specialty restaurant, Murano, was excellent. We enjoyed Sushi on Five as well as Tuscan Grille. All of the entertainment was pretty good. The comedian, Lamont Ferguson, was one of the best I've seen on a cruise ship. Our balcony cabin as well as the rest of the ship were clean and well-maintained. Embarkation and debarkation were very quick and smooth. The dance classes and bocce games were a lot of fun.
