The other posts go into detail, but essentially you remove the door, verify the vinyl cover still fits in the channel, then take the cover all the way off, clean out the channel, apply contact cement, reinstall the vinyl cover to the door, the clamp the two pieces all the way around. The material covering the glove compartment is warping at its sides, and coming off. It looks terrible. I should've had this fixed before I bought this car 3 years ago. It showed signs back then of peeling off, but the problem has worsened. Frankly, I don't know what I was thinking— they should've taken care of it. With another child on the way I'm not about to pay a ton of money to fix this, but want it done just the same.

Yes, the glovebox has two-way action: it opens and extends outward, for easy access to its contents from the driver seat. If your glovebox does not smoothly operate as in the brief video below, it's time to replace both glovebox struts. This would be a trivial job were it not for the length of the new extension strut, which makes it impossible to install without compressing it first see Procedure below.
