After a year hiatus, Australian Idol will be returning to the small screen in Millennials are already rejoicing at the news as they get a chance to relive their childhood. Most of us were in primary school when the first season of Australian Idol premiered back in , which saw Guy Sebastian and Shannon Noll go head-to-head at the Sydney Opera House in what was truly a grand final. On Sunday night, Amali, Anya, Josh, Royston, Phoebe and Ben performed songs chosen by the Australian public - and then the voting lines were opened up. Stream Australian Idol free on 7plus. On Monday, each Top Six contestant had the opportunity to perform once more as the final three were revealed. All six potential Idols admitted they were feeling incredibly nervous before the show. Royston and Anya were then called up on stage, where it was revealed only one would go through to the Grand Finale - and that was Royston. Anya, whilst disappointed, said she had achieved her goal. But out of Phoebe and Ben, only one would be chosen to continue on - and that person was Phoebe. That left Amali Dimond and Josh Hannan to compete for the coveted final spot. Amali Dimond performed Warrior by Demi Lovato, earning strong praise from the judges.
