The actor spoke with CinemaBlend about A Million Little Things coming to an end and how he fought for Eddie's story to be told authentically.

By Emily Longeretta. The final season will bring back multiple familiar faces. While he is shown in flashbacks, Delilah is back in town. Additionally, Eddie — who has a daughter with Delilah — will get a new romance this season. One thing the executive producer will give away is that Eddie, who became paralyzed in a hit-and-run at the end of Season 2, will remain in a wheelchair throughout the duration of the drama.

Eddie is a recovering alcoholic who's been working on his issues while trying to keep his marriage to Katherine alive. While Eddie stops drinking, he ends up cheating on Katherine with their mutual friend Delilah. While it can be said that Eddie has a good heart and that he loves his son and yes, he does love Katherine , he's got demons. At the end of Season 2, things seem like they could be looking up for Eddie as well as Katherine. Eddie is at a bar, and he orders a shot from the bartender. He looks at the glass and almost chugs it — until an older man next to him yells "Take the shot! This makes Eddie snap out of whatever was compelling him to relapse and he abandons the drink, telling the bartender that the old man just saved his life. Coming out of the bar, Eddie calls Katherine, who at first is worried Eddie is drinking at a bar. But Eddie is honest with her and says he's not, although he almost did. He tells her he wants to renew their vows tonight, even if it's just the two of them. Right after they tell each other they love each other, Eddie gets struck by a car.

DJ Nash: I think when we were looking at how to tell this story, there were four possibilities.

After being paralyzed in a hit-and-run at the end of Season 2, Eddie has battled a relapse in his addiction, gotten divorced and seen Delilah move to France with their daughter Charlie. Through hard work, therapy and, of course, the support of his super-tight-knit group of friends, Eddie seems to be thriving. They ended up at a pool, and with the help of a pool noodle, Eddie discovered that he could stand upright in the water. We talked a lot about Eddie possibly walking again. Instead, we want to tell the story about the true grit Eddie shows in embracing his new life.

The series is known for its emotional drama and tragic moments that help us see the characters as flawed humans beings, just like the rest of us. Eddie works on becoming a better person, and by the end of the second season, his relationship with Kim is on the right track. The couple decides to renew their wedding vows. In the second season finale, the preparations for their vow renewal are in the final stage when a tragedy strikes. Eddie has been trying to deal with the death of a childhood friend, Alex, who drowned years ago. As he puts together pieces of his past, a clue takes him to the lake house. There he finds his clothes from the night Alex died. Eddie is devastated after he remembers the incident and how he failed to save Alex because he was drunk. He heads to a bar for a drink but leaves before drinking.

A Million Little Things is back and audiences finally have the answers to some lingering questions. The Season 3 premiere picked up right where Season 2 ended, with Eddie's friends and family dealing with the immediate aftermath of his car accident. While audiences found out most of the details surround the crash, there's still one big lingering question: Who hit Eddie in A Million Little Things? It looks like the identity of the driver will be one of this season's big mysteries. Eddie's David Giuntoli fate was left up in the air after his accident at the end of Season 2, but audiences weren't left hanging for too long during the Season 3 premiere. Eddie did survive the accident, but he wasn't completely unscathed. After the accident, Eddie was left paralyzed from the waist down, with a very small chance of ever being able to walk again.

Rome was all in on getting the second baby but Gina wasn't ready, showing that the two are on very different pages about how to deal with their grief. What would you say the strongest relationship of the season is, romantic or otherwise? To help keep your account secure, please log-in again. The final season will bring back multiple familiar faces. Why did this feel like the path you wanted to go down with Eddie? Read at your own risk! Megan Vick Nov. We talked a lot about Eddie possibly walking again. Oh, yeah. It isn't clear if the actor who plays her, Rachel Nichols , will return in future episodes. Woo, is it getting dusty in here?

Expand the sub menu What To Watch. At the beginning of Season 3, which concludes in the next few weeks, we learned that Eddie Saville played by able-bodied actor David Giuntoli has an unspecified spinal cord injury after getting hit by a car. With Rome's depression, and with Regina being the survivor of child sexual assault, they were both able to lean on each other, but right now, that's proving really difficult because in some ways, some of the hurt and anger they're feeling is directed at the other person. Right after they tell each other they love each other, Eddie gets struck by a car. He's kind of getting the family right away that Rome and Regina wanted. And I think we got to show both of those, the struggle and the overcoming, in the three years I portrayed Eddie in a wheelchair. Maggie and Jamie do not get off to the best start. Eddie ends up going to rehab, where he recovers — but he and Katherine don't. How much more can we take? Nash: How they handle the hurt and how they each attempt to heal, as you're saying, is really very different. Jamie and Maggie are suddenly almost like therapists in each other's lives, completely submerged and following things that are happening to them. Must Read. In Season 4, he confirmed to his son, Theo Tristan Byon , that he might never walk again. I just couldn't be more proud of this writers room and how they have looked into the pain that they have endured, and turned that into a cathartic experience for them and the cathartic experience for these characters. There's some people on Twitter who really wanted it to be Team Darcy and Maggie; I don't know if everyone's getting that this season the way that they might want, but we are seeing the two of them have to forge a relationship because they both love a guy who was such a part of everyone else's life.
