One vineyard that will undoubtedly have several wines in the running is the Three Choirs in Newent. Three Choirs is already England's most awarded single estate vineyard. It covers 75 acres on the border of Gloucestershire and Herefordshire and offers overnight accommodation, a shop, winery and restaurant so popular locally that Sunday lunch requires forward planning of at least four weeks. There's no missing it on approach - rows and rows of bright green vines stretch from the roadside into the distance. We follow a sign for residents' parking, passing a house with a vine-covered veranda, and turning a corner find numbered parking bays outside what looks like a community centre. We head to the house, which turns out to be the restaurant, and a very personable girl fetches a key and shows us to our twin.

The Three Choirs name comes from the annual music festival of the same name, in which the three local cathedral choirs take part. A number of their wines are also named after local landmarks. I knew they had a reputation for experimenting and exploring the potential of a wide array of grape varieties. The vine maintenance and replanting programme seems pressing and large-scale, but a carefully considered body of work.

This beautiful country of ours has many tricks up her sleeve. A memorable and unique wine tasting experience that everyone can enjoy. From caring for the vine to the winemaking process, we handle each step with equal passion and attention to detail. As a result, we take pride in all of the wines that we put into the bottle. In , we planted our first vines when local wine retailer Alan McKechnie started harvesting the vines on his small fruit farm. With a little help from the record summer temperatures and bumper harvest, his small fruit farm begun to expand. After nurturing it for 11 years, Alan sold up in due to poor health and the new owner was found. Throughout the changing seasons, our vineyard undergoes a remarkable transformation - from a serene winter stillness to the emergence of vibrant buds, which then evolve into lush green vines teeming with vitality.
