Loud treatment to a weird story that wants to be about supposed small-town issues, especially the lack of privacy for couples. But the lead actors are not able to look and feel their parts. Supposedly, Indore is a small town. It is difficult then to take it seriously when it comments on the sham that government schemes for the underprivileged have been turned into. Or when it talks about the privileged considering themselves unprivileged and trying to game the system. Or even when it revolves around what looks like its main theme, the lack of privacy for couples. Because, you know, patriarchal society or not, the liberal woman is largely unreasonable and self-centered. It does the film no favours that neither Vicky Kaushal nor Sarah Ali Khan are convincing as small towners. If only it were as easy as dressing up as small-towners supposedly do. It is not that their faces are not creating the right expressions. They are. Actually, maybe they are doing so too correctly. In addition, the performances seem to snip from one emotion to another. Sure, a human heart does react impulsively as the situation changes. But here it all seems to orchestrated.
