If there's one thing, I've been hooked on since 1st grade-- it's phonics. Does anyone else remember that Hooked on Phonics jingle?! Explicit phonics instruction is the key to helping our students unlock the English language, helping them truly understand the relationship between sounds and letters. Phonics equips our young learners with the tools they need to decode words with confidence. So let's embrace the power of phonics and guide our little readers on their exciting journey towards literacy success! But how do we teach phonics? We're living in the digital age, my friends, where YouTube channels are serving up more than just School of Rock tunes from our own childhoods.

Phonics videos are great to use in a variety of settings! I use phonics videos to get my students started in the morning, during indoor recesses, brain breaks, 5-minute time gaps, and of course during reading block. They are a great tool to get your students up and moving while learning phonics skills. Here are some of my favorite YouTube videos that teach Phonics skills our students have to learn. Each letter has its own dance moves as they learn letter names and sounds. This video is one your students will be begging to do over and over again. This phonics video incorporates the letters, sounds, and signs for each letter of the alphabet. At the beginning of the school year, I play this video to help teach my students the letters of the alphabet. It is the first phonics video they get addicted to. Your students will practice fun songs with each letter of the alphabet, sung to familiar tunes. Have Fun Teaching videos are wonderful! This one goes over the alphabet song, as well as letter sounds. It also distinguishes between consonants and vowels. This video is the first in a series of videos dedicated to each letter of the alphabet.

They have organized their videos into playlists so you can easily find the folder with all of the letter videos or sight word videos.
