Hello: we're thinking of moving to Winnetka from Chicago, we're both 45 yrs. We can only afford a house in the lower quartile of Winnetka, and based on our ages it would not be a starter home, it would be the home for the next 20 years. I'll get the point, we're wondering if this is a bad move? Most people who buy the lower quartile homes under 2, sf are younger parents around 30, and for them it's a starter home, and they usually move-up to something better and bigger by the time they are Will our kids feel like have-nots in Winnetka under this scenario? I figure if we get a nice, well-kept, older home in Winnetka, furnish it with high quality stuff basically once, that would make me happy, but I worry about the kids living in these smaller "have-not" houses all the way through teen years.

User-defined colors Preset color patterns. I would guess that Hinsdale and Wilmette are pretty similar markets, with similar price ranges and attracting similar types. The ancient price patterns, of the largest lots in SE Hinsdale still being among the most desirable is still somewhat in evidence, though mapping out where new homes in the priciest categories have sold most quickly shows that folks currently place a great deal of importance on convenience to one of Hinsdale's three Metra's stops, the very nice centrally located shopping and dining hub around 'downtown', the various local parks, many of which are also home to the desirable walkable neighborhood elementary school, and similar features that give pretty much every part of town some appeal. But it's across from a school, on a busy street, and not in the most prime part of Hinsdale. Noah that is a gorgeous spot for a bike ride, run, or walk. I got it together but that is another story.
