Universally regarded as the weakest link in the Wheel of Time series, Crossroads of Twilight brings the overarching narrative to a screeching halt. But it ultimately makes the Last Battle feel further away than ever. This volume also gives short shrift to core characters such as Egwene and Mat the latter of whom is absent entirely. This glaring flaw is balanced out somewhat by the welcome return of Mat, along with a slightly bigger role for fan-favorite characters like Lan. Even so, Jordan does an admirable job of keeping the main narrative rumbling on. Back in , New Spring was the Wheel of Time prequel novel that nobody — and I mean nobody — wanted. Yet, divorced from that context, New Spring is actually a decent read. At only pages, New Spring is also refreshingly streamlined, with fewer subplots and ciphers than the other books. But your mileage will likely vary on how satisfying The Dragon Reborn is, given Rand is effectively sidelined until very late in proceedings. Otherwise, Lord of Chaos is an engaging read from cover to cover.

I recently decided to make a list ordering my least favorite WoT book to my favorite, and I posted this on my website. I wanted to see where everyone else decided to rank the Wheel of Time books. If you don't want to rank all of them, then you can put down your favorite and least favorite book from the series. A Memory of Light - Trollock slaying goreporn, complete lack of structure, off-handed and illogical resolutions to multitudes of plot-lines which had no place being in the last book. AMoL felt more like fanfiction than a WoT novel, numerous established in-universe rules were violated for the convenience of the plot unrestricted channeling in Shayol Ghul, men initiating the link, Dark One being the source of all evil, sa'angreal suddenly lacking a safeguard against burning out, etc.

Though they've yet to happen, multiple changes to the books have been set in motion ahead of The Wheel of Time season 3. In its adaptations of the first books Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series , Amazon's show has made a multitude of changes to the source material. And based on the direction taken by The Wheel of Time season 2's ending , more are likely to happen when the series returns. It's already been confirmed that The Wheel of Time season 3 will serve as the show's interpretation of the events that took place in The Shadow Rising. The fourth entry in Jordan's series, The Shadow Rising is remembered as the book that took Rand al'Thor into the Aiel Waste, the homeland of his mother and a place that will be key to his fight against the forces of the Dark One. From the looks of things, Rand will follow in the footsteps of his book counterpart and follow the Aiel into the deserts of The Wheel of Time's world. But while much of what's expected to come is from the books, season 3 is already in position to take some liberties. In the books, crossing paths with the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn is instrumental to his entire arc, as they're responsible for unlocking his memories of his past lives. Having the knowledge of countless military leaders from The Wheel of Time's ancient history is the driving force of Mat's biggest contributions to the narrative.

One great scene that doesn't occur in The Wheel of Time books but was added to The Wheel of Time season 1 is Rand's mother, Shaiel, giving birth to Rand on the slopes of Dragonmount just before she dies of her wounds. In the books, it's confirmed that Shaiel gave birth to Rand on Dragonmount while the final battle in the Aiel War was being fought, but the event itself isn't described. This was a smart scene to include because it hints at Rand's heritage and creates an awesome fight scene , but it's not important enough to rank higher.

Leon Miller Leon Miller Jan 29, The good news for Wheel of Time fans is that the best book in the series, The Shadow Rising , is the book being adapted in the show's upcoming third season. As I said, the Bowl of the Winds was never a plotline I really cared for, and I especially did not like the way Mat played into it, with him getting raped by Tylin. The book that started it all, The Eye of the World impressed me quite a bit when I first read it. The story would have grown that much, I think had Mr. Mat's absence makes this my least favorite book. Left with an it's over feeling, but it's good. The events of Toman head give the book a really epic feel. The Fires of Heaven feels like Jordan decided to spice things up by throwing in a couple of extra queens onto the chessboard, just to keep us on our toes. These books are ranked based on impact. We have a mysterious sorceress, a king without a kingdom, an unwitting farm boy, a burly blacksmith, a wiry troublemaker, an ambitious young girl, and a caretaker who is wise beyond her years. This gives the narrative an extra sense of weight, and starts to build tension around the Dark One breaking loose from his prison. As for the ending itself, I loved it. News items. LoC 6. No surprise, the book that most fans seem to agree is the weakest book of the series is the one that I rank right at the bottom. I am a sucker for good stories, and Nynaeve rallying the Malkieri relied on it. A Memory of Light: I recognize the criticism. CoS 9. Post Tag: The Wheel of Time.
