In I was appointed Administrator of the newly merged Hilltops Council and was again elected as a Councillor in , prior to my election as State Member in I am proud of my reputation as a representative who listens and gets things done for the local community. I am very aware of the challenges faced by locals in the Goulburn, Moss Vale, Crookwell, Yass, and Murrumbateman areas. I will continue to fight and work hard for infrastructure, services and regional policy — to make our communities even better places to live, work and raise a family. There is a lot happening in our area and I assure you, I will be working hard to deliver for the communities of the Goulburn electorate.

The IPART review is still open for submissions on terms of reference, it was envisaged once terms of reference were agreed upon the review would take at least 12 months to conduct the review, yet instead of shortening the timeframe of the review, the Minister has detailed plans for an Upper House Committee on the matter. Shadow Minister for Local Government, Wendy Tuckerman said that since Labor came to power, Councils across NSW have been in financial and operational turmoil under a Minister who continues to contemplate rather than take considered action. A pointed question was whether the Minister was hoping to achieve a certain political outcome with the upper house review, a point he denied. The Minister stated he continues to advocate to the Federal Government for increase revenue for the Local Government Sector but highlighted the considerable tension between the Federal Labor Government and the NSW Government on the increase in the taxation income for both the state and for the Local Government sector. Local Government Sector is looking for leadership, the Minister needs to turn off cruise control and start driving change. With Local Government Elections approaching in September, the issue of former Councillors found by ICAC to have engaged in serious corrupt conduct being eligible to run for office is a grave concern for all constituents. This morning at Budget Estimates, Minister Hoenig detailed that the review of the Local Government Code of Conduct was much harder than he thought it would be when the Minns Labor Government came to office almost 12 months ago. During questioning the Minister attempted to maintain an appearance of progress by detailing that he was anecdotally looking at and listening to ideas for the Code of Conduct review, but refused to provide a timeframe or a guarantee that the work would be completed prior to the elections this year. It was clear the Minister is concerned about the complexity of the current Code and the recommendations from the Gary Kellar PSM but has failed to put those concerns into action.
