If the remote was working previously, but the range of the remote was gradually decreasing until it ceased to function, this indicates that the battery was wearing out. If the button cell battery in the key fob of Jetta is replaced incorrectly or a battery is unsuitable, it can damage the vehicle key. Only replace drained batteries with new batteries in the same voltage, size, and specification.
It is under the dash abover the brake pedal assembly. Sometimes i cant push to start car the first or first few times, but it eventually works usually. Totally worked.

Just recently, the display notified me to change the batter in my key fob, so I replaced the battery in BOTH key fobs. Then, I got the "Keyless Defective" notification and one of the key fobs did not work at all for a couple of days, while the other one was just fine. Now, one key fob works perfectly fine in all ways, still has "Keyless Defective" notification.

Anybody had this before? I saw on this thread for a Golf that it might be a loose wiring harness, but does anybody know where the antenna is in a Tiguan? If accessible, I'll see if I can reconnect. To get the key to work, I have to place it against the steering column where a key would normally go, then the car will start. Try purchasing the battery from a store where stock moves fast. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser.
