Vacuum leak ford f150
Ford F owners are generally pleased with the reliability of their Ford pickup trucks. Even so, there are a few issues that are quite common occurrences and can cause significant problems.
Vacuum leak at rear of intake. Thread Tools. Ive got the PO and codes so I ran a smoke test and have it coming from left rear of intake, Ive tried to use a mirror and flashlight but still cant locate it exactly because of stuff in the way, is there anything else at that location that would leak? I dont want to remove the intake of course if thats not the problem. View Public Profile. Find all posts by dallasf

Joined May 4, Sorry if this has been posted before but ai couldn't find anything on the subject. I had my hood up today while the truck was running and heard a hissing first time I've heard it but also the first time truck was running with me under the hood. I found a hose that was not connected to the upper intake manifold port behind the intake y. I pushed the hose back on and the truck bogged down and almost died, idle got super low and I could tell the truck did not like it. Pull back into my driveway and pull it back off, test drive and the truck runs great. Peppy, no bogging or hesitating. I've only owned the truck for 4 and a half months and wouldn't think a dealership would unhook that to make a sale at least I hope not.

Truck began to misfire, sputter while driving, idle really rough, loss hp. I replaced the coil, problem solved. Loss hp, shaking, idle rough, sputtering when I drive. So I go back to auto zone today to hook up the tester again. He said it read. He told me I have a vacuum leak, not a bad coil. Do you.
Suggested Test 1: With the engine cold, visually and physically check all vacuum hoses. The most common vacuum leak problem is the PCV tube's elbow, where it connects to the intake manifold. Suggested Test 2: With the engine completely cold, start her up and spray around the intake manifold's gaskets to check for leaks. If the carb spray hits a spot that is leaking, the engine RPM's will increase or decrease and this will pinpoint the source of the vacuum leak before undertaking this test, see: Checking For Vacuum Leaks With Carb Spray. Not only will the RPMs increase or decrease, but if the engine is warmed up enough, if you look at the O2S11 and O2S21 voltage numbers on your scan tool, they will max out a 0. If after visually and physically checking for vacuum leaks and none are found, the next step is to check fuel pressure.

Water can get onto the solenoid even in a car wash, where water is forced through the drains at a high rate and pressure. I am very hesitant to take this to the dealer I purchased it from as that it is not a Ford dealer and the extended warrenty I bought is not a Ford warrenty either and I must start at the purchasing dealer. Posting Quick Reply - Please Wait. When it rains, the windshield drain soaks the solenoid , ultimately causing it to fail. Air Filter Seal. Status Not open for further replies. I have no idea if it's intentional or not. At this step, inspect the vacuum lines for any presence of water in the system or clogging, which may also play a role in the IWE issues. Thread Tools. Does anyone have a picture of there set up or know? Also getting horrible mpg about 10 mpg hopefully fixing the vacuum will help.
Hooked it back up. You need to take the engine cover off and follow every single vacuum line under the hood and make sure they are all on and tight. Driving down the freeway the truck seems fine. Joined Feb 29, Update- I purchased a Fel-Pro intake gasket set and I believe these rubber grommet probably replacements that go with the isolator bolts-these Fel Pro gaskets are so much better quality than the garbage that was on it. They are spring-activated, and when the vacuum is withdrawn, the hubs are no longer held in place, allowing for the transfer of power. When the F is switched into the all-wheel drive mode, the vacuum is cut off because of the powertrain control module PCM , which disconnects the ground from the IWE.
