The group helps to foster the development of Naginata within the university of Canada by providing the opportunity to practice and study modern Naginata on campus. Naginata is derived from an ancient Japanese weapon art which utilizes a glaive or pole-arm type weapon for offensive as well as defensive techniques. The art has two main components. The first consists of a series of Kata or Forms from which students learn the basic striking points, blocks and footwork. The second is free form sparring. A student who has acquired an exceptional grasp of basics will start to practice with armor bogu and learn to strike protected parts of the body directly. This dynamic art places a strong emphasis on martial arts etiquette, form, and respect for others while helping the practitioner to improve balance, concentration, coordination, strength and spirit. This student group is dedicated to the introduction of Atarashii Naginata Modern Naginata to the University community and the spread of Naginata in Canada and the world. The UltraTrail in New Caledonia is, originally, the desire to discover other horizons while surpassing oneself. Many trailers in the territory were keen to go beyond what was offered as a format locally. A dozen supply stations hot and cold drinks, sweet and savory food, massages, medical team held by a hundred volunteers will be set up for the competitors throughout the course. The electronic score of the runners at all the Control Posts will be put online on the net, live to allow the media, families and friends to follow the race, on the territory or from abroad. The long distance of the UTNC requires an active organization over more than 48 hours around the start. The village, the main venue for the UTNC, is located in Plum and remains open throughout the duration of the event.
