The Upper Cathedral Ward is a secret optional area in Bloodborne that has not one but two optional bosses, and can be accessed through the top door in the Healing Church Workshop , which is through the right door in the Cathedral Ward Oedon's Chapel. From the lamp turn back and ascend the stairs to where the old ladies are. Quickly walk up half way and turn around, the large creature will shoot its laser beam and blast of all the enemies on the stairs. Then, run up the stairs to the flat area and run across the left side until you see a break in the fence. Carefully drop down onto the walkway below and dispose of any enemies that may have followed you. From the walkway enter the building across from you. Directly to your right an Ogre is waiting, take care of him, then look down into the square opening and you will see a dead man in a chair with an item.

From the Yaargul Chapel lamp, go up the lasered stairs, PAST the plateau with the 4 old ladies, and into the area with the tree and the firebombing old ladies.

Upper Cathedral Ward. Upper Cathedral Bridge : There's a Celestial Child here, leaning up against the wall directly ahead of you upon first entering the area. While these enemies move and attack very slowly, they inflict an extreme amount of Frenzy buildup when they hit you. Always have some Sedatives in your Quick Items while in this area, and be especially careful when fighting large groups of these enemies. While you're crossing the bridge, a pair of Church Servants will start walking across, try to take out the one with the lantern first, so that you don't have to deal with his ranged attacks while fighting the other one. After battling your way past a few more Celestial Children and making it to the other side of the bridge you'll be able to activate the Upper Cathedral Ward Lamp. Statue Balcony : This small balcony area has a very large number of Celestial Children on it.

The Healing Church Workshop is a large tower which spirals up leading to a locked door, leading to Upper Cathedral Ward, and a chest containing one of the Hunter Badges. Beneath the Healing Church Workshop is the Abandoned Old Workshop , which can be accessed with some careful platforming.

Starting off from the Chapel, take the lift on the right to the top, then climb the tower here to the top until you reach a door you can open with a key. Climb the stairs on the left behind the door and near the gate is a Blue Elixir. Across the bridge are a few Church Servants so deal with them the conventional way.

The Lumenflower Gardens Lamp will also appear in the area, and if you're running low on healing items, it's worth using it to go back to the Hunter's Dream and resupply, because there is still more to do here.
