I am a incoming freshman and I intend to rush a frat at the University of Florida. The best fraternity is one that matches your goals, needs, and ethics and at which you feel most welcome. Potential protege?

I know very little about the frats at UF with regard to their respective reputations and whatnot. Some of my friends in my one semester at American University were Pikes but I never felt compelled to rush right away since I thought I would be there throughout my entire undergrad experience. So naturally, I decided I was going to rush Pike at UF, only to learn they were suspended until ! Any info would be helpful people. They have a monopoly over all the rest of the fraternities. Pi Kapp is good if your from Miami, S. The ones not from Miami, are from S. Might get only a few guys from Jax and Tampa. A breath of fresh air would be cool. SigEp and Sigma Chi are good too!

I know very little about the frats at UF with regard to their respective reputations and whatnot. Within the next 30 years I think there will be a re alignment with the campus expansion. My observation is that there are schools in the deep south where the entire fraternity atmosphere is overwhelmingly "southern". I don't mind the large numbers- it makes our campus seem a heck of a lot smaller. You should be able to raise the money and buy the clubhouse, and that will lead the way for other chapters to do the same. You're not going to see blacks in the "southern fraternities"; or if they are there its certainly not in any numbers. That's not going to happen. Within fraternities at those schools, for instance, there is often a racial but not necessarily racist element to the "southern" definition. They are cut the next day. Keep things civil and as objective as possible, please.

I'm pushing very hard for us to buy the lot between Pike and Lambda Chi's monstrous houses and begin building one ourselves. Did you rush? Actually we have 14 counting the ethnic one and the newest colony. Though I wasn't aware Sig Ep had made the top tier. Although I may not agree with it, I will honestly admit that it did happen when I was at UF and I am quite sure that it continues on. That being said, now that you have this information about tiers don't get set on the top tier unless that's really you.
