Whenever I would read about the best foodie places to go in Niagara Falls, everyone kept directing me to go more north toward Niagara-on-the-Lake. This cute city is ripe with wineries and lots of sweet cafes. We had reservations at Treadwell Cuisine , a farm-to-table restaurant. For years, chefs have worked with their local suppliers and based their menus upon the seasonal product of the region. Those little pillows of gnocchi were delish. And, we sat outside in the sweetest little patio. Across from us was their bakery so we had to check that out, too. They serve pastries and other bakery items from the front counter. Quick, easy sandwiches. Gorgeous, live decor. Fresh-baked bread. And pizza slices. And the goodies: sweets!

Taking a short trip around Lake Ontario to Niagara region is a must-do for any city-dweller. He brings his refined palate and culinary expertise from training in some of the finest kitchens in England, Sweden and Switzerland. After hearing rave reviews I stopped in for brunch with my date on my way back to the city. Not having a reservation, we were fortunate to score two bar seats overlooking the open kitchen the BEST spot to watch all the action.
