With lockdown restrictions now allowing us to mix indoors at pubs, bars and restaurants, there's a brand new luxury bar opening in Cambridge. The Cambridge Union Society, the oldest, continuously running debating society in the world, formerly occupied the venue without public access, however, now the doors are opening to the rest of Cambridge. Over the years, the venue has taken on many guises, but has always remained the home of visiting speakers and debate audiences that visit the CUS during their world-renowned events. Steve Bax, Bursar, said: "I have had the delight of joining the society at a point where the venue has really taken shape. The Orator will serve food all day, starting with a range of breakfasts, including the traditional full English, a plant-based breakfast and brunch indulgences, such as Eggs Benedict. Moving onto dinner, the brasserie and bar will serve classic specialties with a slight twist, along with daily changing specials. Ben Pope is head chef and is keen that he and his team use fresh, locally sourced ingredients with the menu adjusted depending on seasonal produce.
