But what they really mean could be a telltale sign of which used boat to buy, or not to buy. Oooh, the clean sweeps and crisp lines of those boats. Such style! But hull design is not just a matter of style. Well, they do it because a deep-V hull is seaworthy but slow, and a flat-bottom is fast but flakey. Finding a blend of seaworthiness and speed has become a tantalizing challenge for some builders. It features a pair of small, 2-inch tall steps with large vents at the chines. During my trial of the Z I can say that I did not experience this hesitation. I will also say that I have experienced it aboard other boats. These are on the aft hull panel only—that is, the part of the hull aft of the aft-most step. Speed rails keep the boat tracking true, particularly in turns. But I was able to haul the SeaVee Z through some high-speed, hardover turns with as much confidence as I would when commanding a conventional V-hulled boat.

The Hull Truth is a free interactive forum. It is the first largest boating, sailing, fishing, all things marine life forum on the web. The forum cuts across everything there is to know about life on the sea, including buying and selling boats, fishing, marine electronics, and a host of other related topics. The hull truth website began on the 21st of February as a substitute to Saltwater Sportsman magazine internet forums. The need for a substitute forum emerged when most forums on Saltwater Sportsman were getting withheld as the advertisers in the magazine did not like the effects of an open forum as they discussed issues affecting their boats or products. Although the website has been sold to Internet Brands Inc. As the Hull Truth has grown to such astronomical levels over the past years, I have come to realize that the forum may not be operating to its full potential with only the resources of me and my wife at the helm. What began as a part-time commitment has grown to over 70 plus hours per week, with no relief in sight.

Cannot say enough good things about both.

Well, they do it because a deep-V hull is seaworthy but slow, and a flat-bottom is fast but flakey. Somebody said the Grady was a Mercedes of fishing vessels and I agreed. You can see that jimh does appreciate this, so maybe we can do something nice for him this year too. But those exaggerated sponsons on the outside of the running surface are called split chines. An appearance that is powerful. I also bought from Byron at Quality in Clearwater John. Forums New posts Search forums. You actually put the stern-drive into a pocket.
