Tanya, trying to talk to her sister, finds herself trapped on the balcony, causing her to call Anthony for help. When he comes outside, Megan enters the kitchen and starts a fire. As the fire spreads through the house, the Clarkes slowly die one by one trying to escape - James is crushed by debris; Anne suffocates from the smoke; Megan is burned to death; Tanya burns or hangs herself on a scarf and Dennis gets impaled on a fence. This process is watched in horror by Anthony, who has been locked out of the house. As everyone he has seen at this point is dead, Anthony runs back in the house for his mother as he has not seen Anne die , and disappears in a flame.
