Start my car fuse box
Cars have various electrical components that require a fuse to protect against short circuits. There are two fuse boxes, one located near the engine or under the hood and the other is located near the driver seat. The car fuse box under the hood protects engine components including engine control unit ECUcooling fan, ABS motor and battery.
If you begin to notice some electrical problems in your vehicle, such as the dome light failing to turn on when you open the doors or the radio shutting off, you may need to check the fuses. Without them, overloaded electrical currents can overheat the wires, melt insulation, and cause fires. Fuses help ensure that electrical currents stay at a functional level. If they get too high, the fuse will blow as a way to stop further electrical damage. Fuse boxes house the fuses and relays, which help prevent damage to them from weather, water, and other conditions. There are many types of fuses in terms of both material and amperage.

My dome "courtesy" light was not working when opening the door, so I went to check the Courtesy fuse in the interior fuse panel. Without a fuse pull tool, I used a small screwdriver to wiggle it out. There was a spark and now just about all electrical components are knocked out, including the starter. Car won't turn. Head lights, tail lights, and heater are working though. I did replace the Courtesy fuse but nothing. Any ideas what the spark could have done? Any helpful input would be much appreciated.

My car is a Scion tC AT. It does not crank when I turn the key. If I hook up jumper cables same thing, no crank. I went through tests to see what it may be and had help going through some of this with some guys on ifixit. Using a Multimeter, I checked the basics to see if I had solid connections.
If electrical parts in your vehicle are not working, the system may have been overloaded causing a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker. Here you will find various information related to automotive fuses — the location of units, fuse box diagrams, fuse layouts, and assignment of the fusible links, circuit breakers, fuses, and relays. They burn out due to exceeding the permitted load in the electrical circuit. This may be due to the connection of additional equipment, short circuits, wear and tear or jamming of motors, and other causes. The easiest method is to visually inspect the fuse — if the fusible element inside the fuse is damaged, the fuse has blown. You can also check it with a multimeter. The circuit breakers will reset themselves and allow the electrical parts to work again once the overload on the circuit is removed. Relays are devices that receive signals from components or systems. After receiving signals, relays transfer these signals to activate or deactivate other components or systems. Why do fuses burn out?

If you're installing a car amplifier that needs a turn-on signal or a low-power device that requires 12 volts, you can get the voltage you need by tapping into your vehicle's fuse box with a fuse tap. This handy little piece of hardware adds a new fused circuit to the factory electrical system safely and neatly.

Engine failure, especially out of the blue, can be scary. In the manual, you will find a diagram letting you know which fuse is designated for which component, and this will help you know which fuse has blown. There are many types of fuses in terms of both material and amperage. For instance, internal damage in the windshield wiper motor can cause more current than normal to flow, which shorts the circuit.
