It was shut down by Tony after he was defamed by Tiberius Stone who was subliminally influencing him.

Over the years it has been around, it has undeniably played a massive role in the Marvel Universe. It's been a prominent part of Tony Stark's stories, as well as being a constant in Avengers story lines over the years. And in complete honesty, if there was no Stark Industries then there would almost certainly be no Iron Man. And what would we all do with our lives if there was no Iron Man?
