I would counter this counter-argument by saying that stands have had their own personalities in the past, like with Cheap Trick, who seemed to be fully sentient. All of us were under the impression that everything had returned to normal when Jonathan was finally leaving on a ship with Erina. What if Dio woke up in a world he couldn't recognise.
