It was a cool show, and it had a nice "underwater" feel to it, and it actually had good taste in humor. It was great. Like Rocko's Modern Life, another Nicktoon, both shows had an uncanny talent for getting innuendos past Nick censors. Unfortunately, SpongeBob has a slightly milder form of that. Some of the things SpongeBob producers had to change were pretty silly, too.

Even when effort is put into the show, such as its TV movies, the end result never fully captures the original spirit. While his return did not fix the show, his influence was enough to help the characters regain some semblance of their past dignity.
