The soundtrack to Disney's "Frozen" was not an immediate success.

It was released in Europe on 15 September through Republic Records as the first single from Bay's second extended play of the same name. It was included on Bay's debut studio album Chaos and the Calm A week after that, the song entered the top 10 of the chart, peaking at number A remix by Jack Steadman was released in Gregory Robson of AbsolutePunk called "Let It Go" a "rising current of despondency, heartache and powerhouse vocals" and "the clearest example of who exactly Bay is, that is, supple instrumentation, gauzy textures and that ageless croon".

We spent some hours scribbling stream-of-conscious Elsa thoughts and a few more hours noodling and putting those lyrics to melody. And I belted out the demo 24 hours later. The songs of Frozen were integral both to its plot and its character development. Now Frozen was no longer the archetypal story of good versus bad, it was a tale of acceptance versus fear.
