Asked by RagnarTolletson , March 13, I am new to the forum and relatively new to Mod Organizer about 2 months and to Skyrim itself about 4 months. I appreciate any help with what I am sure is a simple question -- but I haven't been able to find the answer after some hours of searching. I would like to clean up my save games to improve performance -- I suspect I have a number of orphaned scripts, etc. After reading the reviews, I have downloaded and installed Save Game Script Cleaner, and have watched the tutorials. Looks like a good, simple solution.

I just started playing Skyrim again a few days ago and I saw at the skyrimnexus unofficial Skyrim patch page about this "There is no such thing as a clean save. It does not matter who tells you there is, it doesn't exist in Skyrim. You cannot remove any mod, not even the patch, without there being some data that's been permanently changed. Bethesda's own developers have confirmed the only way to properly remove a mod is to load a save made BEFORE that mod was introduced into the game. If you started a new game with 10 mods installed, you're going to be stuck with those 10 forever.

Unfortunately, this AI also clashes with mods like Extensible Follower Framework, which enable you to have more than one follower at a time. Skyrim was coded with the assumption that the player would only have one follower at a time. Because of this, Serana, unlike most NPCs in the game, will basically tell you to go fuck yourself if you ask her to come with you when you already have a follower. My mod fixes this by having a plugin remove the problematic dialogue entries. Even if forced to become a follower again, she will continue to walk home instead of following you. It also translates EFF commands follow, wait, relax, etc.

It has been an odyssey. My most recent Skyrim save is three years old. I cannot in good conscience pretend to recall what my motivations were the last time I played it - what quests I cared about, what guild or weapon or house I was pursuing. But, for reasons that are part bloody-mindedness and part wincing at the prospect of having to redo so much armour crafting from the start, I have been absolutely determined to get my old saves and characters working in last week's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition [ official site ]. However, if you ran Skyrim with mods, there is a very strong likelihood that the saves will not work. Some folk have been lucky and gotten away with nothing more than a missing content warning message, but others have been completely locked out, usually in the form of a crash to desktop when Skyrim Special Edition tries to load the save. However, third party attempts have got some of its features working already, so there is hope yet. In the meantime, it's a lottery as to whether your saves will work.

Posted March 13, It's not helping at all, only making things that much worse with save corruption. Always one of those things where you have to be wary. I copied my saves and tried it out so let's see if there's any problems. That tool cleans obsolete entries and orphaned scripts from the game, but script data will remain in the save file, causing Papryus to constantly check it and creating errors. After clicking "delete all," the app will permanently remove the selected files. If I had any criticism it would be taht when you select fix script instances button, you don't really know what got "fixed". But then I've always finished my ride before removal.
