Let me begin by correcting a common misconception. The proper term to use when referencing the ancient lost race of Tamriel is " Dwemer. With that small point finished, let us begin our discussion on the dwarves by focusing on the indisputable artifacts they have left behind: their architectural and cultural designs. Unlike the more controversial areas of dwarven scholarship, the construction of dwarven cities and relics are well-founded due to the plethora of samples taken from the Ruin these peoples have left behind. My own home city, Markarth , was originally one such ruin, and I can state from first-hand experience that all dwarven designs share a set of common principles that we can use to determine true artifacts from fakes and delineate patterns and methodologies that were important to their craftsmen. First of all, we can say for certain that dwarven artisans favored stone, at least as far as their buildings were concerned. This is no surprise. With notable exceptions, the vast majority of dwarven architecture is found underground or carved out of mountains. It is possible, although only theoretically, that the dwarves first mastered masonry as a race quite early, and later examples of metalwork were added on to much earlier stone designs as the dwarves began to master more complex tools. Regardless, the foundation of all known dwarven ruins is built on stonework, and the structure of dwarven stonework is sharp, angular and intensely mathematical in nature. By a simple count, there are hundreds if not thousands of samples of dwarven buildings made of precise square shapes, and far fewer examples of discretely rounded or curved stonework, leading us to believe that early dwarves favored trusted, well-calculated designs based on angled lines rather than riskier, more imprecise calculations based on arcs and curves. This comparatively simple tradition of stonecutting has nevertheless resulted in buildings that are as structurally sound today as they were hundreds of years ago, making the works of our most skilled masons today seem like child's play in comparison. Metalwork as far as we know is the primary method used to make almost all dwarven crafts. We cannot, however, discount more easily destructible materials such as clay, paper, and glass from outside the scope of dwarven craftsmanship, but given the tendency of dwarven design to favor the long-lasting over the fragile, we can safely assume that at the very least metal was a heavy preference.

With the Elder Scrolls series taking place in a fantasy world , there are plenty of common fantasy tropes found within the games. Most of the fantasy tropes such as elves, orcs, and magic have been tweaked to separate them from other fantasy works, but one of the more interesting takes within the series is what they did with the Dwarves. The Dwarves, more commonly known as the Dwemer, were a mysterious and advanced race that has been lost for centuries. While they themselves are no longer around, their ruins and remnants of their technological advancements still linger around today, and can commonly be found in Skyrim and Morrowind. It is easy for players to know next to nothing about this race, but these are some things that are quite interesting about them.
The Disappearance of the Dwarves was a major event that took place in 1E The event came about as a result of the events at the Battle of Red Mountain , which brought about the near-complete disappearance of the entire Dwemer race, save one — Yagrum Bagarn. Among the many great mysteries of Tamriel , few are as profound as the disappearance of the entire Dwemer race. Both translators conclude that Kagrenac, the great Dwemer engineer, used profane tools Wraithguard , Keening , and Sunder and specific rituals to attach the Dwemer race to the power of the Heart of Lorkhan ; which, for one reason or another, caused the destruction of the entire race. According to certain historical sources, those four Chimer were far more involved in the event, having fought the Dwemer King Dumac and Kagrenac themselves in the deep caverns beneath Red Mountain , possibly forcing their hands.

They were even called Deep-Elves and Under-Elves from time to time. Many Redguards in Hammerfell have shown a particular interest in the Dwemer ruins there for unknown reasons. When a Dwarven Dagger was compared to an Elven dagger, it was clear that most Dwemer weaponsmiths relied almost exclusively on creating quality crafting materials first, and allowed the final forms of those materials to stem from the concept that the weapon was intended to kill people. I see it now. As the Dwemer were a race of Mer, their blood was closely related to that of the other Mer races. Throughout Skyrim, players learn a lot about the Dwemer, which has led to many questions and theories about what happened to the race. The Dwemer, as mysterious as they may be, are only a part of the confusing and storied lore within the Elder Scrolls franchise, and the theories about them are only a drop in the bucket when it comes to the series at large. Unlike the more controversial areas of dwarven scholarship, the construction of dwarven cities and relics are well-founded due to the plethora of samples taken from the Ruin these peoples have left behind. Four Aetherium Shards could be combined to form an Aetherium Crest. They lived in vast strongholds deep underground, which were composed of stone and metal.

A number of these clans soon formed a loose alliance of four city-states that was regarded as unassailable. Athynic protested, but from the ties of a great friendship, he reluctantly agreed to help his friend. The two devices directly interacted with one another; by placing an Attunement Sphere into a Dwarven Mechanism, the entrance to Blackreach would be unlocked. While it is not clear if they used magic themselves, they have definitely used magical artifacts to further advance their technology. The Dragonborn returned to Arniel with the package, which contained a unique dagger. Despite this, it is widely accepted that the Dwemer were present when the mortal realm of The Elder Scrolls , Mundus, was created. The Dwemer religion, if it can even be called that, is said to be one of the most complex and difficult puzzles of Dwemer culture. These differences, as well as disputes over territory and resources, caused conflicts between the two civilizations. With notable exceptions, the vast majority of dwarven architecture is found underground or carved out of mountains. The Chimer had established themselves on Morrowind, then known as Resdayn. Sometime after the Alessian Slave Rebellion , [23] various Ayleid kingdoms launched a desperate search for the fabled Wrathstone , which they believed would lead them to a weapon that would be their salvation against the encroaching forces of the Alessian Empire.
