Prior to coating, some new or unseasoned hardwood contain natural tannins that need to be extracted. These tannins can be extracted naturally over a period of months depending on sunlight and other weather exposure. Since this is an oil-based product, Mineral Turps are recommended for cleaning up any surfaces or tools.
