Musashi, as he was often simply known, is considered a Kenseia sword-saint of Shinmen takezo. The details of Miyamoto Musashi's early life are difficult to verify. Musashi was most probably born here. As for "Musashi", Musashi no Kami was a court title, making him the nominal governor of Musashi Province, shinmen takezo.

Musashi is rescued by Matahachi and treated by Takuan. Inshun's superiority causes Musashi to escape driven by fear but trains a for a rematch where he briefly overpowers his rival. Both play with a snowman simulating a brief sword fight in the process, forming a friendship in the process. Musashi then meets Matahachi who expresses jealousy over Musashi's achievements and apparent relationship with Otsu. This angers Musashi and leaves his old friend while punching him.
