If the slot is transmovable you can transmog that legendary into another item or transmogrify an item into legendary unlike legendaries from previous expansions. At the beginning of Legion You can only have 1 legendary item equipped regardless of type. Over time the number will increase. Thanks to the Class Headquarters if you manage to increase it to the maximum it will allow you to equip more legendaries according to your research level.
