I know firsthand the stress of leaving your elderly dog in an environment that may not be well suited for them. Physical limitations, bathroom needs, vision and hearing loss, specific food and medication needs, along with a desire for a calm and quiet environment make sending your senior to a regular boarding kennel a challenge. I know I would not be comfortable sending my own elderly dogs 10,13, 14, and 16 years old there at this stage in their lives. I entrusted the Shady Pines staff with the care of my girls for about a week and I was beyond nervous to do so. It was my first time boarding them, but between my husband being out of town for work and a family emergency I had to travel for, I was left with little options. Communication with the staff was great- someone was always available to answer my calls and my questions throughout their stay. The doggy daycare was great, allowing them the opportunity to run around outside together and stretch their legs. They both came back leaner, but the staff communicated with me how they were stubborn to eat in the new environment, so I don't blame them for that. They also came I bring my fur baby here whenever I need to board her. If you call and no one answers, try calling again!
