On the Dreamliner, they open from galley side. I am 6'2 and knees were touching the seat in front. Food was normal plane food. Overall, I like these seats since they provide privacy, a large video screen for entertainment, work space and a lie-flat bed. The toilet won't flush until the lid is fully closed, which i found may be inconvenient. Beware of 18h and 18c - the aisle becomes narrower there on transitioning from Premium Economy to Economy, and cabin crew have difficulties pushing service carts past that transition without banging the aisle seats.
